Teragren Synergy™ strand bamboo flooring seen in "Smart Home. Green + Wired." exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, now through January 4, 2009

Teragren Synergy strand bamboo flooring in Java is featured in the greenest home in Chicago, now open for public tours on the beautiful grounds of the Museum of Science and Industry. The museum commissioned the home for its exhibit "Smart Home. Green + Wired." As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the exhibit demonstrates new sustainable building materials and environmentally friendly technologies.

Conceived by Michelle Kaufmann Designs, the country's leading designer of sustainable, green homes, the 2,500 square foot, three story, mkSolaire modular home was built by All-American Homes. Solar panels, energy efficient appliances and innovative insulation save roughly half the costs of heating a typical Chicago bungalow. From the solar panels and sustainable garden on the roof to an energy efficient vehicle in the garage, visitors are discovering environmentally friendly methods and reusable materials they can use to start living green right now.

Smart Home

Teragren and their local distributor, All Tile, Inc. are proud to have contributed 1550 square feet of Synergy Java solid-strip strand bamboo flooring to this lovely home. Manufactured with a patented process, Synergy solid-strip strand bamboo flooring is 100 percent harder than red oak and well suited to stand up to the demands of high traffic in both commercial and residential settings. Synergy's water-based, solvent-free 7-coat German aluminum oxide/polyurethane finish carries a 25-year residential use/5-year commercial use warranty. Teragren's proprietary manufacturing adhesive emits less formaldehyde than allowed by U.S. OSHA, European E0, CARB Phase 1 & 2, and Japanese JIS/JAS (F****). Synergy contributes to LEED credits MR 6: Rapidly Renewing Materials and IEQ 4.4: Low-Emitting Materials.

Smart Home. Green + Wired continues through January 4, 2009 at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. The home's "green holiday" theme opens November 4, 2008. For tickets and more information, visit the museum's web site.
